Hello all 1-O visitors. Welcome to Mrs. Ogden's First Grade Web page !  Let's take a closer look at all of the fun things we do each day.

A Day In The Life of a 1-O Student:

8:10-8:30 Morning Circle

(Monday-Friday)

8:30-9:30-

Math time~  Math is fun! We love investigating and working with numbers, shapes, patterns and much more.  Each day we start the day working on math strategies and new concepts. The program that we use is Investigations in Number Data and Space, Pearson Scott Foresman

9:30- 10:10 Reading

We love to read!  We approach reading in many different ways!  Word study, guided reading, basal readers and many different literature books.  We study many different authors and their individual styles of writing: Tomie dePaola, Leo Lionni, Elizabeth Fitzgerald Howard, Mem Fox and Arnold Lobel to name but a few.

10:10-10:30 Recess (run 1-O run!)

10:30-11:10 Either Writer's workshop, Author study or Word Study.

11:10-11:45 Lunch  (Hot or cold offerings each day). We eat in the cafeteria.

11:45-12:30- Out we go! Recess time.

12:30-1:10- You will see from the schedule this is different every day!  Some days we have a special like:

Science, Library, Computers, Music, Spanish, Art, drama.

1:10-1:50- Physical Education class!

1:50-3:10-  Each day after P.E we will come back to the room to enjoy a snack, write homework in our assignment books and get organized for the next day.  Then we will have social studies.  We learn all about Communities in 1st grade. Pingry community, Farm community, Penguin Community, Rain Forest Community and finally learning all about an Aboriginal Community in Australia.

3:10- The students walk either to the back door for pick-up or to the front for carpool. Some students may be staying for aftercare or enrichment.  They all meet in the cafeteria.  We have very full days and the students usually come home tired!
